I just acquired these tapes last Sunday for a very reasonable price. And I won't divulge it in here how much it is. The internet is a good place to go if you're looking for something. I got excited I finally got a copy of Cypress Hill "Black Sunday" album. A classic from them I must say. There are no garbage on this. Songs like "I Wanna Get High," "Hits from the Bong," and of course "Insane in the Brain" doesn't get old to me. For the very first time I own now an Ill Communication album from the Beastie Boys even though I know this one is prolific. I was turned off by it because the lack of artwork from the sleeve so I didn't bought one at that time. For Hello Nasty I am fortunate enough to have it again because my old copy was stolen from a leech neighbor in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Fucker. If you want to read something else about the Beastie Boys besides here and Wikipedia I recommend to you to hunt for a copy of a local fanzine called DISPATCHES. Before I end this what do you think about the song of Beastie Boys "Sabotage" is it a hardcore song or a rap song? I am confuse.

J.EDGAR
Another colossal directorial job from Clint Eastwood. This is a huge performance by Leonardo DiCaprio portraying J.Edgar Hoover director of FBI for almost 50 years. It shows in here his personality, sexual preference, a clean freak, good diction, his love for America, his disgust to communist and activist. His methods are blackmail and illegal wiretaps. He also pursue the fingerprint file. He puts a lot of his effort to gain the respect of the people in the FBI. He accumulated a lot of secrets hidden in his file cabinet that will never be known. This reminds me of The Good Shepherd with minor similarities in the style of directing.

THE RUM DIARY
The Rum Diary is about horoscopes, alcoholism, journalism, a problematic publisher, drunkenness, cockpit, beautiful and sexy girl, corruption and greed in Puerto Rico, home brewing a 437 alcohol proof, an Adolf Hitler vinyl, watching television in a neighbor's window, lucid disgust to Richard Nixon, evading a bunch of Puerto Rican thugs, blowing fire in a police officer, a rusted motorcycle and an uncomfortable car, stealing a boat, LSD, voodoo and many more. I think this is a tribute of Johnny Depp to the great Hunter S. Thompson. A film about him will always be chaotic but The Rum Diary is more cohesive than Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Giovanni Ribisi will make your day after viewing this.

THE IRON LADY
The Iron Lady is about former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The movie shows her perseverance to have a political power. She was inspired by her father hearing him delivering his speech. It also illustrate her achievement and failure as a Prime Minister. Did you know that she was the one who opposed to be a member of E.U. It was on her time that happened the worst recession occurred in Britain. IMDb gave this only a 6.2 rating but I don't rely much from them. Merly Streep is really great also a support from Jim Broadbent.

PEDICAB "Tugish Takish" Tape
I like Pedicab. This is their debut album and it has ten songs of noise pop. I can't believe this is in a tape format even if it was released in 2005. I am planning to buy their sophomore album. Since I bought this tape in a shop in Quiapo I tend to get it also from there if they have one. Besides all record bars are closing now no wonder. Yes I am also listening to bands that comes from our local rock scene. There are a few who are worth listening (i.e. Up Dharma Down but I still don't have their CDs but I've heard their music) but the majority of them aren't that good.

SISTER BASTARD
Straight up Sister Bastard is the greatest band in our DIY local scene right now. You're my enemy if you don't like them. I'll crucify all of you if you're going to diss them in front of me. If I hear you're talking shit about them I'll abduct and execute you Mafia style you will not feel what hit you. Better be down! Again a video of my Onkyo tape deck playing a couple of their songs in Pilipinas Thrash Detonation compilation. The title of the songs are "Hypocrite" and "Our Lady of Bastard Hate."

HIMALA
Obviously I've been posting English and Hollywood film but nothing about our own. I am thinking what would be a huge post for a local film here in Any Last Word. So, I've chosen Himala. Indeed one of the greatest achievement in Philippines Cinema despite the fact that the industry choked us on a lousy and poor production of action films and S.T./T.F. It was recommended by my mother a fan of Nora Aunor but not a fanatic to clarify things. Anyway I won't be going into details why is it good it's up to you to find out. (Your assumption is right on I am lazy to put at least a brief synopsis about it.) You won't regret this and don't worry you will not become a laughing stock for viewing this in fact it may get you an impression you know how to choose quality film.
VEIL by Bob Woodward
A follow up to my post about Tinker Tailor... here is Veil by Bob Woodward. Also to really prove my obsession to this agent/spy world. The title in the picture will give you an idea what this is about. I am going to review this in sixth issue of Real Tight Crew.

TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY
Another addition to my spy movie obsession. This is about espionage veteran George Smiley of MI6. His mission is to compromise all the suspected mole within their echelons. The very reason I watch this because of Gary Oldman which for me is a great actor. Not only him you can't go wrong with Mark Strong, John Hurt and Tom Hardy all of them are good too. The movie has this gloomy feel into it. Maybe because a life of an agent isn't really rewarding and they tend to become paranoid. Their first rule is "trust no one."

WINTER'S BONE
Winter's Bone is about the struggle of Ree Dolly to strive for her family at a very young age. Suffering from a meager life with a depressed mother and a father involved in the drug trade. The problem rises more when the local Sheriff informed her that her father put up their house as a collateral for his bail. I just watched this recently I have to tell I am impressed by Jennifer Lawrence. She's not only beautiful but talented as well no wonder she got an Oscar nomination for best actress. In case you don't know her she also starred in X-Men: First Class. John Hawkes is also in here as a meth addict Teardrop. I am familiar with him. I've been seeing him in a couple of films like American Gangster and Contagion. He also got an Oscar nomination for this movie as well. I also like those thick Southern accent. This is highly recommended
